South was rescued from the streets of South Memphis after what started as an effort to save a puppy turned into rescuing three adult dogs, too. He arrived with injuries common to dogs surviving on their own, including damage to one of his front paw pads and old ear injuries. Despite his rough start, South has never stopped wanting to connect with people.
South is a sweet, social boy who has steadily learned to trust the people caring for him. Once he feels safe, his affectionate and gentle personality shines through. He enjoys companionship, seeks out attention, and simply wants a person to call his own.

South is available through Team Memphis Rescue and his adoption fee is $350. He comes fully vetted, neutered, and of course FREE lifetime training assistance.

South is doing OK. He isn't very confident around crowds and uniforms. He LOVES attention though from the people he knows. He really enjoys being outside in the sun and playing around in the yard. He loves all the dogs and I believe his confidence and comfortability goes way up when there are other dogs around. When it's just him and I in the cell he is such a sweetheart and just wants me to pet him 24/7.

South joined us last week and is adjusting fairly well to a schedule in here. He is already attached to my hip. He loves when someone pets him. If you stop, he will keep nudging your hands until you start again. He is a little skittish around uniforms and doesn't trust a lot of the C.O.s that he encounters, but he loves all dogs. He doesn't really play with all of them, but he likes them present, almost like he is more relaxed when they are around. He does enjoy playing with Bluey off leash. He is doing very well!

South will be joining the HOPE Program after he spends a few days with the HOPE Program Trainer. Since South is new to his rescue, sometimes we like to spend some extra time with the dogs joining the Program, so that we can really get to know them.
