Merlin joined the HOPE Dog Program on Friday, March 22, 2024!
He is a 2 year old, neutered male Pointer mix, weighing 70 lbs, . Merlin is a big fella wanting to play. He's fine with other dogs and tested fine with cats. He doesn't have any handling issues and knows sit, shake, down, etc. Someone has worked with this fella! He's strong on a leash but then again, he's been stuck in the kennel for over a month. Merlin is so eager for attention and needs someone to save his life!!
If you're interested in adopting Merlin, please review his rescue's Adoption Expectations here, furryfriendsnetwork.org/adopt/our-expectations/ and if you think your home would suit his needs, click that "Apply to Adopt Merlin" button below!
Merlin is sponsored by Furry Friends Network and his adoption fee is $425
4/12/2024 Merlin has two things going on right now, no fear of mud, and total FOMO (fear of missing out) about EVERYTHING else! He is definitely NOT afraid to get DIRTY,as he gallops around in the puddles like a crazy horse! His is also still learning how to use his brakes, as when he gets running around, sometimes he uses the wall to stop by broadsiding it! He’s definitely a special boy!
Now, about this FOMO!!! Merlin is getting so much better at utilizing his OWN SPACE (his crate and bed) for his downtime, instead of my personal space. He’s still not a fan of being alone and he will definitely vocalize it by whining. We’re all convinced he just has FOMO and needs to be where everyone else is all the time.
…HOPE Trainer here…Merlin is definitely a goofball and just loves everything and everyone and that’s why we think he’ll be perfect to attend the mini-THON event at Boiling Springs HS where he will get to hang out with the kids raising money for the Four Diamonds. Their mission is to conquer childhood cancer and you can show your support here fourdiamonds.org!
Merlin is sponsored by Furry Friends Network, Kennel License 5011, and you can apply to make him all yours here, https://www.furryfriendsnetwork.org/adoption-application/
4/5/2024 Merlin and Loki had a great playtime this week! Merlin developed a barrel roll of sorts to escape Loki’s clutches and needless to say he gets VERY DIRTY! But its very funny to watch, he keeps us all laughing!
Merlin is doing better week to week with his basic commands and we continue to work on his attention span…or lack of…LOL
One thing we’ve learned about Merlin is he continues to whine when he is separated from me and/or other dogs, so companionship is his number one must have at this point! He just craves being near to you!
3/29/2024
Merlin had an exciting week with his new pals in the day room and the dog yard! He is such a social butterfly and LOVES to clown around…mainly by putting Loki’s whole head in his mouth. Merlin seemed to be having a rough day on Thursday, seeming to be a little anxious and distracted. So I tried some music therapy and he responded really well! We listened to Dave Matthews Band Radio and sang along. He’s definitely a DMB fan!
Merlin was out in the yard playing with Loki, they always have a good time together! Merlins likes to groom Loki and then do surprise jumps to catch him off guard! All of a sudden when you think Merlin has run out of gas, he hits the pedal and runs around like a new born pony! He then likes to gator roll in the dirt and snort like a piggy. He’s funny guy for sure!
3/25/2024 Merlin has been adjusting well to his new environment. He has made a lot of new friends and loves to play with them too. He seems to be enjoying watching the geese and all the people too. He seems to get along with everyone and everything! He has been a joy to have around!
